an open letter to Senators Clinton and Obama
Dear Senators Clinton and Obama,
I applaud you for both doing so well in the primaries. I see each of you maintaining strongholds with different parts and people in this great country of ours and I am cheering you on. But I am getting scared. I am getting scared that this great show of support is turning into divisiveness and rancor. I am scared that in order to win you will need to cause irreparable damage and along the way, McCain will come out on top.
Our country cannot withstand another four years of politics as usual. I cannot in good faith support a process that runs the risk of such great a loss. We need to come together and we need to do it now.
So I need your help. I need you to come together and talk. I need you to put aside ego and platform and sit down and do what needs to be done. As a woman and a mother. As a man and a father. Talk about what will be best for our country and what will ensure victory and change in the coming years.
There are so many people counting on you. I fear for my daughter's future. I fear she will grow up in a world full of anger and pain. I fear that she will not have the health care she needs or the education she deserves. I fear for all the children and their parents, so as a parent I come to you. I fear for my neighbors. I fear they will suffer and their families will strain. So as a community member I come to you. I fear for those I serve. I worry that poverty related issues will continue to flounder under a McCain administration, so as an advocate I come to you. I worry about our planet, that unless we tackle the environment now nothing else will matter. So as a participant I come to you.
Do something unprecedented. Join forces. Obama/Clinton. Clinton/Obama. In the end it truly doesn't matter and you need to see that and focus on what you can do as a team. Because the country is more important than the winning. Because either and both of you will do a far better job than McCain. Because we need you to do the right thing. Because I am asking you as a mother who loves her child just as you are parents who love yours.
Come together. For all of us.
Sincerely,
Jen (mother, partner, advocate, thinker, participant, blogger)

Joining forces, for me, is a much better argument than asking one (read: Hillary) to step aside.

Sudden death: I just wish that all remaining states, including those on timeout (MI and FL) would move their primaries up to April 22, and the popular vote/delegate count be over and done with. On one day.
Solves the MI/FL and superdelegate issue, puts us out of our misery, and we go forward united to beat the REAL adversary, McCain.
And then I woke up.
Sigh. Never happen, for too many reasons.

That would be GLORIOUS.
