Is Nothing Sacred?

Slate imagines a Hillary attack ad that goes after American icon and working man's hero, Bruce Springsteen.  Even the departed Mark Penn would have had enough sense not to go after The Boss.  If not, I'd need to open up a whole can of whup-ass on them for taking on Springsteen.

A MOMocrats' nod to Ben Smith at Politico.com for finding this one.

An imaginary ad?

I hear that The New York Times is imagining an ad where Obama goes after my Appalachian grandmother as she's walking into church.

Now THAT is where I would draw the line. Bruce, on the other hand, is a big boy multi-millionaire who could handle himself. ;-)

So is your grandma packing heat in that imaginary ad, Jozet? I'm pretty sure my Appalachian granny could have taken Obama with one swipe of her pearl-handled pistol. If she weren't, you know, already dead. She was scrappy like that.

If it's imaginary, why do we care?

Why do we care?

Because it will be spread and not everyone will understand that it is imaginary.

I consider that last line to be a nod to the mistake(s) of President Reagan who completely misunderstood Born in the USA.

I probably should have more of a sense of humor about this but this is one of those icky lines that new media crosses. I wish I could trust that people would get the joke.

Allegedly, at one point, 70-something percent of the country believed that Saddam Hussien was responsible for 9/11. I don't know who these people are, but they, and their lack of discernment, scare me.
