Permanent

I did it.

I put an Obama '08 bumper sticker on the back of the Momvan, MOSTLY to reassure MYSELF this nomination is not going to be stolen.

See the bumper sticker is never coming off. Someone is going to buy the 'ol Town & Country years from now and try scraping that baby off for days.  I remember trying to get a Dead sticker off the back of my VW in college and it was NEVER COMING OFF.

So what pushed me to the permanent, van-ruining measures?

I can't stop thinking about what will happen if by some insane (and entirely evil) move the numbers shift and Senator Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee.

What will I do???

Keeping in mind I always live in crazy fantasy land where things like MATH do not matter, I can not seem to shut my brain off to the scenario in which I am faced with Clinton or McCain.

Echoing the Sicilian from the Princess Bride, 'clearly I can not choose the wine in front of me...'

Or can I?

I voted Nader before and watched the chaos. I can't do that again. McCain 'aka Mr. women just need more training and education' is not an option. 100 years in Iraq and the Supreme Court. Too big. Too much.

So in all honesty we're looking at having to vote for Clinton. There is no other 'REAL' option without possibly throwing Roe vs. Wade, soldiers and Iraqi lives right out the window. Could I seriously look at my kids and tell them I COULD have voted for someone capable of ending the war, capable of securing the Supreme Court for the next 40 years, capable of pushing through some sort of national health care plan...and yet I didn't, because I wanted to take a stand against politics as usual.

But HOW can I vote Clinton in my crazy fantasy nightmare, knowing what we ALL NOW KNOW.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGG.

So I put the bumper stick on. The uber-sticky, there for life, Obama '08 bumper sticker. PERMANENT reminder about what this election season has meant for me.

Also a total bet that it will mean something come November 4th.

However I like to make bets, and I tend to get cocky about them.

Time to get cocky again.

Even if cocky means a bumper sticker on a minivan, hauling two kids to preschool.

Queen of Spain, aka Erin Kotecki Vest is still reeling from the margins in Pennsylvania and needs a hug.

Stolen? If we keep talking like that, no matter who the Democratic nominee is, we will never be able to put ourselves back together to beat "the McCain."

"Stolen? If we keep talking like that, no matter who the Democratic nominee is, we will never be able to put ourselves back together to beat 'the McCain.' "

Agreed.

You are making me feel lame for putting my Obama sticker on a magnet before putting it on my car ;)

(It's not that I'm planning to take it off. It's that I love that car too much to stick ANYTHING to it with glue.)

I finally took off the John Edwards sticker last week and replaced it with... MOMocrats! Yes, no matter who the nominee is, I will still be a MOMocrat.

How can I get a Momocrats bumper sticker? I'd love to have one!

I am a New Yorker and voted for Hillary for the Senate (twice)...and while I feel she's done a decent job in that role, I've never felt that she was the right choice for the White House. I've been a big Obama fan from the start and believe wholeheartedly that he is what this country needs to start to undo the last 7 years of the disaster that is George.

But with that said, I would do ANYTHING in my voting power to see John McCain go back to Arizona and stay there. Even if it means voting for Hillary. Elections, unfortunately, are usually pegged on the lesser of two evils.

Barack Obama has my vote and anyone else's that I can personally convince.

If Hillary becomes the nominee I’ll throw back a shot, hold my nose & vote for her. I think she will do a fine job (a darn sight better then our current prez) but I will return to the cynical, lesser of two evils, hole that I climbed out of when I heard Barack Obama speak (and then back it up with both character and substance).

Way to go, Queen Erin of Spain! In support of your action, I just went out and put my Obama bumper sticker (which had been sitting in the frame of my hall mirror) on my bumper, too. I've never put a bumper sticker on any car I've owned before, ever, and I've had...let's see: ten cars. (I'm not THAT old, but my cars have been!) Just not a big advertiser of my sentiments. Well, okay, I do have an old town dump sticker on my present car's front bumper, but those were required. My sister put her Obama sticker on her car weeks ago, and it was her first, too. By way of a hug, here's a little pick-me-up that cheered me greatly when I was feeling blue over this whole long slog a couple of days ago: http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/04/for-obama-supporters-feeling-w.php

If you have time to watch only one of the links, the Dan Rather interview would be my pick. All good wishes!

The vote I cast for Barack Obama in the California Primary was the first vote I cast for a candidate that I wanted and not simply against a candidate I didn't want for a long time. If felt wonderful to do that. I don't want to have to return to voting against somebody, but if Hillary is our candidate in November, I will have to vote against John McCain.

But a really want to vote FOR Barack!

Good for you, Erin.

Personally, I don't think you'll have to make that tormenting decision.

Barack Obama will be out nominee.

If he isn't? Well, if he leads in pledged delegates and popular votes and the fatcats hand over to Hillary? Well, perhaps you'll join me in the destruction of the democratic party that I will enthusiastically support. It won't be worth supporting any longer under those circumstances.

I loved your post, I SO get where you are coming from and it has had me thinking for a few days now! I have my spot on my car for my Obama sticker all picked out. But haven't quite put it on there. Here's what I said about it:
