McCain Oopsapalooza Tour 2
Stay with me now, lots of stops on the McCain Oopsapalooza Tour (previous ones here). Last week, Senator John McCain was chased by applesauce while helping a mom grocery shop.
There were no injuries reported, only dignity a little bruised. Oops.
H/T Daisy and LawyerMama.
This week, McCain had the distinction of being featured in his own video.
H/T The Jed Report, purveyor of some mighty fine video op-eds himself.
Big oops: McCain had to backtrack on his allegation in a negative tv ad that falsely claimed Obama snubbed troops stationed in Landstuhl, Germany because cameras were not allowed. Instead, McCain was dead WRONG, as reported by the NYT, Washington Post, and Kos of DailyKos himself. And here are 13 more facts you should know about the falsehoods in that McCain tv ad.
Worse, McCain was aware of the restrictions on Obama because McCain himself was stopped by the Pentagon on a trip he'd planned overseas because campaign stops aren't allowed at military installations. Oops, hypocrisy much?
The negative ad only called attention to McCain's dismal Senate voting record when it comes to "supporting the troops." Big OOPS.
Ever-widening concentric circles of Oops: McCain's latest outside advisor, Karl Rove, was cited in contempt of Congress for repeatedly refusing to testify about "his involvement, if any, in the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman." Not sure why it's so hard to get ahold of Rove--he's on Fox News all the time as a commentator, and surely the McCain campaign knows how to get ahold of him?
In fact, I don't know why the McCain campaign doesn't cooperate with Congress and hand the guy over, or at least comment on why one of their advisors is being held in contempt. (What a talent the McCain campaign has for finding sketchy advisors, eh? Remember Phil Gramm?)
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis banned those currently employed as lobbysists from holding positions as McCain campaign staff. Except, not any more. Hey--isn't that a flip-flop? Oops.
H/T Talking Points Memo.
Whirling dervish cyclones of Oops:
Just try to keep up with McCain campaign manager Rick Davis' rant...something about "Honest-T iced tea" and "energy bars" and more about "arugula", oh my god, who can keep track? Are these the ravings of a jealous 12-year old girl, or what?
H/T Atrios and Deb of i-obsess.
The Obama campaign, negative? Obama, elitist? More wishful thinking about "I'm rubber and you're glue" from McCain, he of the $520 Ferragamo shoes (highly entertaining video link), above. Oops.
And finally, on McCain campaign claiming that the Obama campaign plays the "race" card--let's look and see who has the better Multicultural IQ.
Sunday, July 27, 2008, Obama spoke to Asian American, Native American, Hispanic, and African American journalists at the quadrennial Unity conference.
McCain was also invited, but declined to attend, and declined to attend the National Association of Black Journalists meeting earlier this year with Obama and Clinton.
Could reluctance to appear have been residual embarrassment over his refusal, while still an Arizona congressman, to vote for observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a national holiday?
While that voting record might possibly put a damper on talking to black journalists, it's odd that a presidential candidate wouldn't LEAP at the chance to talk to journalists, period. We know McCain's called them his "base" before.
Maybe it was calling the people of Vietnam "gooks"? Which perhaps more than a few Asian Americans, some of them even journalists, remember?
OOPS.
So I guess McCain's only interested in wooing favorable coverage from white male journalists? Oops.
Why is it that people who have a low Multicultural IQ are the first people to claim the "race card" has been played?
Oops, McCain, I guess that would be you.

Thanks for linking this! My daughter and husband loved the applesauce 'attack'. My husband, that is, who does the grocery shopping every week and knows his way around a store!
