Every week or so (we like to keep our options open) the MOMocrats will share links from our readers and links to posts we've enjoyed around the Blogosphere. You don't have to agree with us 100%, but you do have to make us think.
So, we give you the first ever MOMocrats weekly post round up:
Of course, we have to start off the round up with our own Joanne. She had a fantastic letter to the editor in the Wall Street Journal in response to their article about Dooce. Unfortunately, the edited all the good stuff about women bloggers and politics. It's almost as if they deliberately removed the word "politics" from Joanne's letter. You can read the full, unedited letter here.
From Bay Area Houston, we have It's Official. George W. Bush is a boat anchor.
From No Caption Needed, a powerful photograph and post: Have you no sense of decency?
From the Huffington Post, David Sirota writes: Hill: D.C. Dems Back Off Health Care Promises
From Latino Politics Blog, Clinton (and McCain) Plays the Race Card
From Politico, Roger Simon writes: A measure of racism: 15 percent?
From Bang the Drum: Will Obama enslave the entire white race?
From Happen 2B Black, a podcast and commentary: Are Black People Sellouts If They Vote For Hillary Clinton?
On gender politics, Deep Muck Big Rake writes Bennetts: Men Shirk Chores Because Women Let Them
From Our Readers
We're always thrilled to hear from our readers. If you write (or read) something you think would interest the MOMocrats, email us a link.
From MOMocrats reader Liz Ditz, blogging at I Speak of Dreams: Why Should You Care About Ben Stein's "Documentary", Expelled?
In the interests of shameless self-promotion, I'm including an email from reader Michelle Shildkret in full:
Momocrats are committed to getting a Democrat in the White House (woohoo!) and you guys are doing a kick-ass job (pardon my french).
Since your team is comprised of committed Moms, I wanted to share Education.com's online resource for key educational issues for this election. Topics include standardized testing & NCLB, school choice, college funding, and universal pre-k:
http://www.education.com/magazine/article/Election _2008/ They've broken down each candidate's viewpoint as well. Here are Hillary Clinton's views on these issues, as communicated by Catherine Brown, a staffer in Clinton's policy shop: http://www.education.com
/magazine/article/Hillary _Clinton/ Obama's views: http://www.education.com
/magazine/article/Barack_Obama/ And these are McCain's: http://www.education.com
/magazine/article/John_McCain/ In addition, here are some thought starters on getting tweens excited about Politics:

Finally, I give you Lawyer Mama's pick for the week: A post that made me shake my fist and shout "Hell YES!" The Wonk Room's guest post by Elizabeth Edwards: Elizabeth Edwards on Health Care Care: This Is Not A Cheap Shot; It's Potentially Life And Death
So much good reading and so little time! And, LM, thanks for the MOMocrat shout-out! ;)

Hey, thanks for the mention of our politics roundup! As moms, we need to show Washington that education may not be as sexy to the masses as Iraq, but it's something parents care about deeply. We're hoping to do a lot more commentary, especially on the differences between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to education. Thanks for noticing the work we do :)
