John Edwards—the reason MOMocrats was started back in September of last year—will endorse Barack Obama tonight.
Read it here.
THRILLED to hear it! We can do this--we can end poverty, we can get everyone covered by health insurance, we can get out of Iraq, we can get our economy back on track. Yes we can--all of us!

I am upset, not so much because he didn't endorse Clinton, but because he just said within the last week that he was not going to endorse anyone in this campaign because he was going to be focused on his poverty initiative. I am disappointed that he did not stand by that. I really respected that decision.

Brilliant move doing this today. Hillary got to dominate the news cycle yesterday (deservedly) with her big victory in WV, now Obama re-takes it with the Edwards endorsement. Though I kind of think Edwards slipped it up earlier when he referred to voting for 'him' after the NC primary :-)

Maybe in trade for the endorsement he gets some of his poverty initiative adopted into the party platform?

John Edwards for Secretary of Health and Human Services. Or Attorney General. Either way, super great.

Would he make a good VP for the ticket?

I am so disappointed in Edwards. Why did he have to endorse anyone? He could have stuck to what he beleived in but he's just playing politics. I don't get the sense that Obama cares in the least about the issues Edwards ran on. Obama doesn't even have a health care plan that isn't just a giveaway to Big Insurance. I think this is all about helping Obama pull in the white guys and Edwards getting some kind of payback. So sad. I'd planned on writing in Edwards for the Oregon primary but I guess I'll just sit that race out and stick to the local candidates. I honestly don't see enough difference between Obama and Clinton to care.

I think this is great news and very well timed! I'm anxious to see who Nancy Pelosi endorses as I believe her decision will start in motion a domino affect for uncommitted super delegates.

I'm guessing Obama promised something in return, so perhaps John Edwards will have a role in the next administration if Obama wins. It's not like Edwards to change his tune like that. It's politics as usual.

fwiw, i believe i read somewhere last night that obama signed onto edwards' poverty initiative. i, for one, was extremely glad to finally hear of the endorsement. it may be politics, but i dont believe its "politics as usual" in the negative sense. obama-edwards is my idea of a dream ticket =)

I am disappointed like Punditmom. But hey it's politics and Edwards wants to get in with the popular guy. Just shows what BS these politicians give out!
