This is rich. Fox "News" referring to Michelle Obama as "Obama's Baby Mama."
This is a woman who quit her job as the Vice President of Community and External Affairs at the University of
Chicago Hospitals to campaign with her husband.
This is a woman who went to Princeton undergrad and Harvard Law School.
Who easily out-earned her husband last year.
Who up until a year ago was a working mother of two young girls.
Just who do you think your audience is, Fox News? A bunch of 11-year-olds? Didn't you forget to call her Obama's "boo" as well as his "shorty?" /eyeroll
It would be so easy to get outraged by this, but instead these tactics make me howl with laughter because it shows that the right is scared out of their minds. Yesterday's "terrorist fist jab" is today's "Obama's baby mama." Tomorrow will surely bring something worse, but it ain't gonna make their cause look any better. The Republicans are are going to get handled come November. This I know.
Yeah. Just like that.
In the immortal words of Kimora Lee Simmons, MOMocrats co-founder Stefania Pomponi Butler "will beat a bitch's ass" for messing with our country's next First Lady.
We filed a complaint with the FCC. Yes, it does no good, but it made us feel better. http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Amen. I've got it up at HuffPo and QueenofSpain too. Gloves are off.

WOW! Thanks so much for posting this!

I warn the young (ineffectually, I'm sure) that clever is usually a cheap shot that brings more trouble than it is worth. I don't know what to say to a seasoned "news" station that pulls something like this. Put them through copyblogger's "Awesome Headline" course maybe, and a sensitivity training detox facility deal in CA. I hear those are all the rage with foul-mouthed celebrities.

WTF!?!?!?
Isn't baby mamma or baby daddy the term to use if the parents aren't married? They didn't even get the context right. Come on!
Posted by: Candy | June 12, 2008 at 05:41 AM
Candy, I am certain they knew that. That's WHY they called her his "Baby Mama." They were deliberately lumping her in with unmarried mothers. It was a not-very-subtle dog whistle. It was meant to say, to some of Fox's, ahem, more provincial white viewers, "This chick might be dressed up all professional-like to look like a respectable First Lady. But we all know what she REALLY is. What ALL black women are. She's a ho."
It was racist, and it was sexist, and it was ridiculous, and the Obama campaign should make as much of a fuss over it as the Clinton campaign did over that idiot saying Chelsea was being "pimped out" by her mother's campaign.

I'm so f-ing pissed about this I can't see straight. And the asshats that watch this crap - their vote counts just as much as yours and mine. WTF?
Posted by: AmyInOhio | June 12, 2008 at 06:46 AM
Just found this - you're one step ahead of me as always!
I would love to think of some ways that Fox could refer to Cindy McCain that are comparable.
Plastic Surgery Apologist?
Bleach Blond Trophy Wife?
Avon Lady?
Nope, baby mama is still worse.

When the racist dorks at Fox Spews try to sound cool, they just end up sounding racist.
Michelle Malkin, stop being a tool of the patriarchy.
Posted by: cynematic | June 12, 2008 at 08:52 AM
It's too late, Cyn. Michelle Malkin is already a tool.
And I LOVE that Karoli filed a complaint with the FCC!

Time for a Michelle Obama Defense League. I suppose it's a bit high school to TP Malkin's house?

So, find the advertisers who were sponsoring at the time of this clip, (ads front and back of the segment) and make a visible effort to trounce those products.
Hit Fox where it counts.

I expect nothing less from fox news. I'm a Hillary supporter who is still recovering from disappointment, and this kind of ass-hattery from the other side is what's going to push me into Obama's camp sooner that later. The Republicans are going to go as low as they can. I was happy to find this website. Obama is ready for their shit.

My neighbor was just guffawing about this. What a f&#*ing TOOL. People in town jokingly call my neighborhood the "Obamahood" so you can imagine that the redneck, unapologetic, closed minded, blatant racism was not tolerated. And here he said this crap to me, a minority woman of color. Prick.
Fox News is clearly a joke. I have a hard time believing people take it seriously. I mean, seriously, America! Can we really have that many idiots who are registered voters? I shudder to think about it.

Just get ready, because if you think this is the end of this sort of wordsmithing types of games to be unleashed by Fox and the Neocons, you are kidding yourself.
Michelle was basically untouchable during the primaries. The neocons though have no sort of ethics to prevent them from just making shit up and peddling it to their racist contingent.
