Carly Fiorina, while speaking at a breakfast talk yesterday used this example when talking about consumer driven health insurance:
"a real, live example which I've been hearing a lot about from women: There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won't cover birth-control medication. Those women would like a choice." For effect, the woman frequently mentioned as a possible McCain running mate repeated: "Those women would like a choice."
Choice. Yes, Carly, in fact we would like a choice. But it goes much deeper than this. We'd like a choice to be able to insure our kids. We'd like to choose to be able to afford both health care and housing. We'd like to know that no one in our nation going without coverage. We'd like to choose to end the war. We'd like Democratic Supreme Court Justices. And yes, we'd like to see our birth control covered by insurance. Hell, we'd even let the old guys keep their Viagra.
But hey, way to freak out your base talking erectile dysfunction and birth control. The Washington Post calls her a risky choice for VP, one that might alienate the conservatives. If this was Obama's campaign, one might call it "moving towards that dreaded center" especially when you are later paraphrased as saying:
Like McCain, she broke from Republican orthodoxy, talking up the need to fight climate change and asserting that Bush was "wrong" about Iraq before McCain talked him into the surge.
Seems like everyone's scooting over a bit these days, and yet we are slaughtering Obama for it. Maybe because it's a bit more fun to move to the left and let your hair down, you know chatting it up about erectile dysfunction and choice. I mean, that's basically saying people are out there having sex. What's the right going to do with that? On second thought, keep talking, Carly. I like your style.
Jen also stays firmly planted left of center over at one plus two.
Wasn't Carly Fiorina ousted as CEO of Hewlett Packard after spying on corporate board members?
She seems like the perfect VP for Cheney's third term!

Yes, Jessica, Carly was ousted from HP, after she pretty much destroyed the corporate culture established by the founders. She would most definitely be Cheney 2.0.

Oh yeah. She'd be the PERFECT running mate. Hell, even the die hard repubs I know who work for HP hate her guts.

She's only now figuring out the Viagra vs. birth control conflict? Where has she been? In those funky bathtubs up on a cliff? Oh, I forgot, that's Cialis.
