I've been planning and packing feverishly for the Democratic National Convention...so much so that I sometimes forget what's going on around me.
This Sunday morning, as I welcomed my in-laws into my home to babysit the kids while I head to Denver, everyone got the news they had been waiting for.
My brother-in-law, with whom I do not share any political or religious views, returned from his SECOND deployment to Iraq.
For every wife, mother, daughter, aunt, niece, grandmother, and total polar opposite sister-in-law...no matter their views on this war...I wish thousands of more happy homecomings like this.
Erin Kotecki Vest, aka Queen of Spain is still all choked up and probably will be all week in Denver. Photos shamelessly taken from my sister-in-law's facebook account.
Erin, this is so so wonderful. I am thrilled for your family. Wishing peace and all of our troops home soon.

I LOVE homecomings. They are the best! I especially love going to ones that I'm not involved in to take pictures for others...who are in no shape to take them for themselves. What a great picture - thanks for sharing! I've been to fly-ins, float-ins, airports, and bus stops. You just can't beat the view of a loved one running into the arms of their waiting families. And the kids...oh, just thanks for sharing your photos!

You can have different views and still want the troops to come home safe to their families. Glad he's home safe and sound.

I am so very happy for your family, and for the families of all the troops who made it home safe and sound with your brother-in-law. My brother is currently serving in Iraq, due home in October, and I can't wait to see him! As the previous commenter said, we all want to see the troops come home safe no matter our political views.
