Full (horrible, pathetic, embarrassing, cringe-worthy, no wonder they don't let her out) transcript here.
Damn I've had conversations with gas station clerks that were more insightful. Palin actually makes Bush look sharp in comparison. What I love though is that Katie clearly knows she is dealing with a lesser mind.
Posted by: Lacie | September 24, 2008 at 09:28 PM
How she cuts down Obama every time she is cornered. Just waiting for her racial slurs.
Can't wait till her no rebuttal "debate" with Biden.
I hate the media for giving her the time of day.
Posted by: bridge | September 24, 2008 at 09:32 PM
although Katie Couric was no Charlie Gibson!
Posted by: bridge | September 24, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Ever notice how Palin throws in "Senator McCain says, thus and such" in most of her answers? I wonder, did she have any original thoughts before the McCain campaign started feeding her cue cards?
Posted by: Lacie | September 24, 2008 at 09:44 PM
Lacie nailed it. Didja notice the more uncomfortable she gets, the more folksy she gets ("Tell ya what, I'll find ya some and get back to ya!" Good answer.) Where's that "bridge to nowhere" speech when ya need it?
I was hoping that since Katie asked us moms what she should ask, she would get to more questions about mom-related issues. But I think this was a better play. Man, I so hope SNL does a send up on this one.
Posted by: Amy@UWM | September 24, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Oh man.
She is going to have to try really hard to find those examples.
The only excellent job she has done is evade questions.
Posted by: amy | September 24, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Holy cow. I'm not a great speaker by a long shot, but I've been more 'with it' after popping Benadryl than Sarah is in this interview --
Katie shows all too clearly that the Empress has no clothes!
Posted by: Linda | September 24, 2008 at 11:12 PM
Are you kidding me??? This is the woman who could potentially be the President if McCain doesn't make it through his first term. Someone just shoot me!! This is an abomination. This woman does everything in her power to evade questions. She claims McCain is this "maverick" but can't give a single concrete example of what he has done in his 26 years to push for regulation?!??? Ughhh, excuse me but I have to go throw up...she is making me sick.
Posted by: Cali_girl | September 25, 2008 at 12:21 AM
The end of this video is hysterical (in a sad and scary way). "I'll try to find some and I'll bring them to ya". WHA?
Posted by: Jupiter | September 25, 2008 at 05:56 AM
Biden surpasses her in "cringeworthy" on a daily basis. Tough to face, I know.
Posted by: mc | September 25, 2008 at 06:16 AM
Lipstick anyone?
Posted by: Flackman | September 25, 2008 at 06:24 AM
That may be mc, but at least Joe Biden has given more than three fracking interviews to the press since he was announced as VP! (it sure doesn't sound like the McCain campaign would agree that Joe Biden is more 'cringe-worthy' does it?)
Posted by: birdgal | September 25, 2008 at 06:33 AM
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if the McCain camp now calls Katie Couric sexist -- that appears to be their answer to everything.

How can they talk about the undue interest of lobbyists and have a lobbyist in such an influential position on the campaign? I get more and more angry every day.
They are somehow managing to make 4 more years of George W. look more appealing than a McCain presidency.
Posted by: Jill | September 25, 2008 at 08:23 AM
Dan Quayle. With glasses and a gun.
Posted by: Becky | September 25, 2008 at 08:24 AM
She's conservative all right, last time I saw someone licking the tip of her finger and sign and apostrophe in the air was back in middle school, in the early '70's. She doesn't talk to reporters so we can have a clear view- of her views, she speed dated world leaders to "enhance" her knowledge on foreign policies, she'll have the nuke codes, McCain may not make it till the end of his first term...boy do I feel safe.
Posted by: Maria Boricua | September 25, 2008 at 09:26 AM
Good grief. This looks like some Beverly Hillbillies comes to Washington episode. Nothing necessarily wrong with folksy as long as it's underpinned by knowledge and intellect but folksy to disguise vacuousness isn't exactly Veep material.
THIS is the woman who could potentially be leader of the free world and Commander in Chief??? Say it ain't so!
Posted by: Kelly | September 25, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Huh? What? Who is she? Oh yeah! That lier from Alaska who will know our nuclear codes.
GOD HELP AMERICA!! WE ARE DAMNED AND DOOMED!
What an insult McCain has made to true Americans. He's treating us like idiots by picking this idiot.
Posted by: John Terrell | September 25, 2008 at 11:34 AM
I think Bill Maher said something like the American people want to elect someone just like them...stupid. And you would have to be to enjoy her hand flapping nonsense.
Posted by: bridge | September 25, 2008 at 11:45 AM
No body was folksier than the late Gov. Ann Richards and she was the type of woman that would have made an amazing President. Her folksiness was the real deal not the manufactured hockey mom crap Palin tries to pass off as "down to earth". The differences between Gov. Richards and Palin are manifest but you could start by saying that Richards was incredibly funny, articulate, brilliant and extremely well informed. Palin is none of the above.
Posted by: Lacie | September 25, 2008 at 11:51 AM
I can't believe what I just listen too. I missed this, but please tell me she is not the real Palin..
Posted by: Glenn | September 25, 2008 at 12:11 PM
You have got to be kidding me. Cringe worthy is an understatement...no wonder they have been hiding this woman. I believe in equality but she is in no way ready to lead this country. Is this how she's going to talk to foreign leaders and dignataries???
Posted by: Gloria | September 25, 2008 at 03:18 PM
Lacie, I'm with you. I admired Ann Richards greatly. Folksy in the way of downhome, totally in touch with her constituents, while knowing what to do and how to do it.
Posted by: Daisy | September 25, 2008 at 05:13 PM
Silly me. I thought Alexander Haig was scary when he declared himself "in charge" when Reagan was shot! Now I know what real fear is...having this sadly lacking woman as President of my country. Incredible.
Posted by: Maureen | September 25, 2008 at 05:51 PM
how in GODs earth do people see this and vote for this woman? HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WAKE THE **** UP AMERICA PLEASE! WHERE IS THE WITCH WHEN YOU NEED ONE! HOW?
Posted by: ray | September 25, 2008 at 06:07 PM
For those who are "comparing" her with Biden: Listen to a number of Biden's speeches, town hall meetings (with NO scripted questions), and interviews. You'll find that he gives substantial answers, and is pretty candid. In fact, he is sometimes TOO candid, saying what is on the top of his head before he thinks through it. But, even in his "gaffe" moments, those are his thoughts of the situation, and his analysis. His answers and speeches are usually logically-scripted ones based on his knowledge, experience, and ideas. Even when he made the silly FDR/TV/Great Depression remark, his actual application of the analogy was good; he just made bone-headed mistake in his choice for the comparison.
Palin, on the other hand, is stringing together sound bytes, often incredibly illogically. She doesn't seem to have many original thoughts, and she far too often seems afraid, unwilling, or unable to analyse the question and give a logical answer. She answers some questions with "talking points" that actually seem like they should be parts of answers to OTHER questions...she appears to be just picking them out of the air to use in the situation, whether they make sense or not.
Even if she is as ill-informed on the issues as she appears to be, she should be able to talk her way through things more smoothly by thinking a bit and giving her genuine analysis/opinion. I think that most of us who are posting here could...shouldn't we expect at least that of a vice presidential candidate? Even if it doesn't line up with the talking points, at least it will indicate an original thought and independent thinking.

This is the clear example of why we all need to VOTE OBAMA!!!!!!!!
PLEASE VOTE OBAMA!!!!

I looking forward to the VP debates more than the presidential debates. This is the funniest election in history, Im totally addicted to CNN! I need to go to bed but I cant tear myself away. I wonder if they will try to somehow wiggle her out of doing the debate?
Posted by: Kim | September 25, 2008 at 10:14 PM
As I watch this interview I am again reminded of how truly offended I am by John McCain's choice for VP. It just goes to show how truly sexist he is. His standards must be pretty low. He believes THIS woman is the best female vp choice he could find?
Posted by: Jen | September 26, 2008 at 05:11 AM
I am so afraid for the future of our country, if McCain-Palin win. Mc Cain has been riding that old dead horse of being a POW his whole career. That was an unrighteous war, just as the one in Iraq is. And he says he will stay in Iraq for 100 years if that is how long it takes to win. God forbid! His ego is huge. And that Palin female is an insult to all women like me who admire strong women politicians like Ann Richards, Barbara Jordan, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and yes even Hillary. I am sick of hearing that Obama is a Muslim, propogated by so called Christians who are basically racists. God help the U.S.A. PLEASE VOTE FOR OBAMA AND BIDEN!
Posted by: Sadie | September 26, 2008 at 09:30 AM
Oh my gosh. Do you remember the poor blonde beauty contestant who butchered an interview last year?
I am appalled and mortified by Sarah Palin. It is no wonder they kept her under wraps for so long. She is a governor for petes sake, and she can not even forumulate a sentence that makes logical sense.
To think she honestly believes she has foreign policy experience because she can SEE Russia from Alaska, is beyond my comprehension. I can see the moon from my home, so according to Palin, I am an astronaut!
I hope you all get to watch her sickening response to that question by Katie. And the 4 whole questions she answered from reporters yesterday fared just as bad.
This woman may be one heart-beat away from the presidency. I thought George Bush was a joke! She is Dan Quayle and Bush--kicked up a notch.

People...How dumb can you be? ....this is Tina Fey.....
Posted by: henry | September 26, 2008 at 11:11 AM
A.) Belabor: argue or elaborate (a subject) in excessive detail: belabor the obvious. B.) Point: an argument or idea put forward by a person in discussion: he made the point that economic regulation involves controls on pricing. Was Katie Couric making a point, or was she asking a question? Beyond the two pertinent and most recent examples of John McCain’s record as provided by Sarah Palin, was Katie eliciting information in excessive detail, belaboring a point, or just murdering the King’s English. Fact is, Ms. Couric really did want excessive detail, and Ms. Palin promised a list. So, what’s the correct answer? You’re right Katie, John is an obvious fake, and I’m totally clueless. D’oh! Sorry for not coming-out with that sooner. But it’s almost moose season; come-on up to the cabin (you can see Vlad Putin's house from the roof), I’ve got two wonderful new moose hats for you and Charlie Gibson: http://theseedsof9-11.com

OMG now this is funny. Palin reminded me of Miss SC from the Teen USA pageant. I can’t wait for the VP debates to see her up against Biden.
Posted by: Jean | September 26, 2008 at 05:34 PM
i think she's such a joke, and it's so sad, we can cleary see who is the better candidate, Obama, his credentials are astounding, good education, great integrity and an immaculate speaker. I think that the reason that the presidential race is so close is that some white americans are afraid of having a black man in charge. I think that's very pitful. Who in their right mind would want 4 more years of Bush? which is what you'll essentially be getting with McC. Look at the state of the world? a war that is unpopular with the country, the economy, healthcare, education, gas, all a direct result of the current administration. I hpoe that the undecided voters will wake up, this woman is a joke and has very dangerous views, and she can't even answer a question without dancing around it!!!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!!!
Posted by: AzzedineAliaFan | September 26, 2008 at 05:56 PM
I am canadian and cannot stop watching all the coverage on your 2 candidates. I feel sorry for you americans if Mcain/Palin end up "leading" your country. I know more about the US foreign policy than she does; what is she doing in this race? McCain has truly patronized US citizens by inviting this clown to be his running "mate". Barack is exactly what the US needs right now!
Posted by: amanda jones | September 26, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Who are you people??? Do you know anything about grassroot American women? You "sophisticated" wimps sound so malicious (as in catty)!!! I was always told "If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything"! I'm sorry you don't like Sarah Palin's vocabulary. You might have legitmate concerns, but use your so-called intelligence to express those concerns in a dialogue that is constructive.
Posted by: CAM | September 27, 2008 at 07:10 AM
Every woman in this country should be embarrassed. The fact that McCain would insult the american public, and pick someone like this is indicative of a party thats obviously very desparate. This will be a landslide VICTORY for OBAMA, thank you very much Sen. McCain for making the road to the White House that much Smoother!!!!!!! Keep talkin Palin!!!! It makes for Great Entertainment!!! Stupidity truly has no boundries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Keith L Mason | September 27, 2008 at 01:45 PM
If I was on a desert island and have just been rescued I would have sworn that this was a SNL skit. It ranks right up there with William Hung and his American Idol take of "She bangs". So funny....if this wasn't actually real.....
Now I'm really afraid for the world if McCain actually wins.

reading all of these comments, i am astounded that anyone would stand up for mccain/palin not only does the woman not have a sound vocabulary she cannot clearly articulate what she is trying to say or formulate a sentence, this woman has no leg to stand on. she doesnt understand exactly what is going on, and its clear when she answers a question "from my understanding". I agree McCain has insulted the entire american nation, not just the women. and as for the "malicious" and "catty" remarks, i believe that they are well warranted, if you do the research on sarah palin you wouldn't have anything to say either, not only that but there is nothing constructive to say about her. If people vote for that team, and they win, and then mccain doesnt make it through the full term she will bring us to destruction..that is not constructive at all so why would anyone want to say anything constructive about her?
Posted by: Katie | September 29, 2008 at 10:19 AM
Biden, and even Obama, would've crashed and burned if Couric were out to get them, too. Wait for the debate with Biden. :)
Posted by: John | September 29, 2008 at 08:27 PM
If the little lady from Alaska can't handle a gentle interview with someone as convivial as Katie Couric then all I can say is she is one pansy ass hockey mom.
To CAM who said of the comments on Palin, "If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything"! I have to ask, "Did ya happen to watch any of the Republican National Convention?" Would you say that Palin and Guiliani were constructive in their comments? No please don't answer that. I don't think I can stand another whiff of pro Palin flatulence.

She is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!! Mccain is not putting country first by putting this Governor as VP. What was he thinking?! I'm a registered Independent. Mccain/Palin will not be getting my vote. Country first my @##!$%#@%#@. More like Mccain first.

Sarah Palin is an affront to all American women. I was initially excited to hae a woman on a national ticket, however, Palin was a TERRIBLE choice. She has deterred the woman's movement -
Posted by: Mamo | September 30, 2008 at 08:20 AM
For a primetime news anchor, she is a joke. Her style is more suited for Entertainment Tonight or Extra. I bet you, that she won't be around for another season. She won't even be rehired by Today.
Posted by: Osler Rivas | September 30, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Not all Republicans are fooled by the way Palin sidesteps questions. She is full of spin and hopes that no one will notice she never really answers. You can bet your bottom dollar that she has been taught more substantial answers for the debate tomorrow night...remember, she has to fool people so that they will ignorantly vote for her and McCain. I find myself wondering how she is going to be "fed" her answers. I also do not like Palin because of her extreme cruelty towards wildlife. She is horrendous, and no real hunter or animal lover should ever vote for this barbaric woman. I am a Republican and a conservative and I will be voting for Obama. I wanted to like Palin. I cannot do that.
