Gah! I'm having trouble loading the live blog screen. . . is anyone else, or it just me?
Posted by: rebecca | September 26, 2008 at 08:47 PM
just wanted to let you know i finally got it to load and got to read everyone's comments from tonight. . . i'm apparently not a good enough multi-tasker to watch the debate, yell at McCain, subdue my guy who kept giggling like a schoolgirl at McCain, AND live blog with you all. I'll work on it for next time though ;)

I don't know exactly who I should support, because both of them are qualified to be a good president, so I have to say let God judge who should be the president in the end.

Like Rebecca I am not a good enough multitasker to entertain my toddler on the floor, focus on the debates and live blog. So here are some of the things I would have liked to have yelled at the television if I could have used my outside voice. First, why should McCain's chest beating over earmarks get any traction with the public? John wants a merit badge for his position on earmarks. I guess ear marks are the new 9-11. So my question, Mr. "I'll mark all over anyone bringing me an earmark", is how was it we managed to have such a glowing economy under Bill Clinton if earmarks and higher taxes on the wealthy are economy killers? Also did you give Sarah a good tongue lashing over her past affection for earmarks? Furthermore John, legislators are elected to get things done for their constituents. Not all earmarks are evil or equal.
Second, in one of his many moments of condescension, McCain made fun of Obama for his stance on Pakistan, saying that everyone knows that the regime before Musharraf was a bad one. Like that provides a legitimate excuse for a coup in a democracy. So my question to McCain is are we promoting democracy in the Middle East or just talking out our ass? Musharraf was an enemy of democracy and free speech. How many times have we heard Palin, McCain or some other doofus offer up, "well you know they hate us for our freedom?" That would be the same mantle of freedom that Musharraf trampled all over in his own country while we lavished praise on him. The Bush Administration is a bad regime and everyone knows it. I guess according to McCain's logic it would be acceptable for our military to orchestrate a coup.

Unfortunately, I missed it since I had to attend a recertification clinic. Hopefully no one is too hung over :)

Hope we hear something new tonight.I build biodiesel processors which turn waste vegetable oil into biodiesel. Algae biodiesel looks even more promising. We need someone to help implement change. As the other poster said, we just need to keep moving in the right direction.
