Here's what MOMocrats found $300,000 can buy you:
1. Enough money for most of one year's budget for a homeless program that helps families with kids with housing.
2. Two houses in middle class neighborhoods in Texas (with access to decent school districts).
3. Health insurance for 25 families of four for a full year (based on average annual cost of $12,000). Or, nearly 8 months of health care at national community health centers (based on Presidential budget).
4. Lunch for 100,000 schoolchildren (based on average of $3 per child).
5. One outfit for Cindy McCain.
But, Democratic candidate Obama---scholarship child of teen single mother---is out of touch and elitist?
Yeah, that doesn't quite add up.
Perfect.
by the way, it'll also get you 3,000 dresses for Michelle Obama from the White House/Black Market store.

Wow, that's one expensive raincoat she was wearing. Seriously, because they were talking about Gustav relief, I thought she was wearing a yellow raincoat, like the Morton Salt Girl, with the collar turned up, you know, to keep out the chill.
I liked Laura's outfit better, even if she's wearing white on Labor Day.

The totally ironic thing about that dress was that she wore it when she and Laura were trying to raise money for hurricane victim....
She could have raised $299,850 if she simply bought dresses at Target like Michelle...
In addition to houses in Texas, that could have bought some nice houses in Louisiana....

If it's taxpayer money, you have a point.
If it's campaign money, wouldn't you rather she spend it on a dress than putting it to better use?
If it's her money, she can spend it however she wants.
And yes, it's possible for a poor person to grow up to be elitist, Mrs McCain's spending habits not withstanding.

This is pathetic. She can spend her money whatever the way she wants. You do know that she donate to charities, don't you? And btw, your statement that her outfit cost 300k is embellishing the truth. its her jewelry that accounts for most of the 300k, not her outfit. How do people in Palo Alto dress when they are attending charity events? Do you girls really need all the clothes that you have? Why didn't you consider buying 3 or 4 outfits and donating the rest of the money? Do you have any jewelry that costed enough to buy 50 backpacks for needy children? Did you do that instead of buying your jewelry?

Oh Kate. Pathetic? really? I don't think so. Also, have been called worse on a basketball court LOL.
I don't know how Palo Alto people dress. I buy my clothes from Target mainly, sometimes resale charity shops, and live in one of those houses in Texas. For the record, it would take my family more than four years to earn $300,000.
But largely, you missed the point completely.
I'm glad you trotted out the "it's a free country" bit of logic wrt spending. The irony in that is...rich. (All puns intended.)
My point is the difference between how Republicans and Democrats tend to spend money (on Democratic programs for citizens versus Repulican special personal interests) and who is truly the elite in this race.
But thanks for the page view and comment.

She who lives in 7 glass houses shouldn't throw stones, or claims of elitism.
