CNN is reporting that, as many suspected, former Secretary of State Colin Powell will be endorsing Barack Obama on Meet the Press this morning.
Powell admires Obama's "intellectual vigor," and he is very concerned about John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin to be his running mate, because she is not ready to be president.
Powell says Obama "brings a fresh set of eyes and while McCain is talented, we need a generational change and has captured the feelings of the young people of America."
UPDATE: After CNN announcement, NBC released this video of Powell on Meet the Press:
Powell summed up so many of my feelings on this. One of my biggest pet peeves is that Obama has to continually prove that he is "Christian", when it should not matter. My son is Christian, but my son has a middle eastern last name, and I always have to *explain* that he comes from a Christian family. So, the whole implication of Obama's name hits a very personal chord for me.

That was perfection.
