At the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate at Washington University, some students standing outside the debate venue before the event began had strong opinions to share on Sarah Palin.
Lisa, a law student, had letter for Sarah Palin from Planned Parenthood, signed by 70,000 people:
Brendan, another Washington University student I spoke with, was very concerned about Sarah Palin's lack of knowledge about the Bush Doctrine:
This student showed up in costume to attract attention to her lack of faith in Sarah Palin's sanity:
She said she was very concerned with Sarah Palin's denials that global climate change is affected by human behavior.
When I asked Clyde, a graduate student, whether I could take his picture with this sign and put it on MOMocrats, He said, "Please do!"
I told him that the MOMocrats always approve of men standing up for women's health and women's rights.
Signs in support of Obama and Biden, or in opposition to McCain and Palin, dominated in the crowd around the MSNBC stage:
Note the "McFailin 2008" sign.
Of course, I saw some students who were supporters of McCain and Palin. Like this guy:
No, seriously. He was an undergraduate English major. At first I thought that maybe his sign was a joke about the Bush years nearly being over. But when I came up to ask him which "End" he was referring to, he said, "You know, everything," and then he showed me his McCain-Palin pin.
Then he told me that he had a ton of homework to finish by the end of the night and hoped he'd manage after the debate was over.
I also found an ardent Anderson Cooper supporter:
I couldn't decide whether she was at the MSNBC stage with that sign to encourage viewers to switch to CNN, or because she didn't love Anderson quite enough to know that he was with another network.
And then there was this guy:
I'm pretty sure he was part of a comedy improv troupe or something.

For anyone who didn't see it, Letterman put together an excellent recap of Palin's debate highlights.

If the end is near, why is that guy bothering to study?
It's great to see students so involved.

I love the guy supporting women's health. I'll always be so proud of my brother at a pro-choice march in DC in the late 80s, saying to a reporter "I'm here because if I'm not, people will think this is a women's issue."
Yay cool guys! Yay for the next generation.

Thank you Jaelithe for posting this picture. And thanks to all of you for the uplifting support for my contribution. I am a single father of a daughter and also raised by a single mother in the 80's.
My mother has been my rock, my daughter is my life-line. i agree completely w/ Glennia's brothers quote.
