...of Kawasaki jet-skis. Psych!

He was on The Colbert Report last night, and killed. I mean, comedy chops like nobody's business. (It was a heavy hitters of the Democratic Party trifecta: Clinton and Obama also made appearances. Clinton started off the show.)

Edwards stood up for the white male voter and his neglected interests. Take a look:

Obama closed out the show.

And there was more substance and issues, if not a smattering information on candidates' platforms, in six minutes and thirty on The Colbert Report than in ten times that on the ABC "debate" the night before. You know, the debate where the viewer had to bring all the substance?

MOMocrat Joanne (aka PunditMom) on XM Radio on Tuesday Morning!

Well, it looks like my political nerdiness and geekdom have finally come in handy.

I've been invited to be on XM Radio tomorrow morning on the POTUS '08 channel (for those less geeky than me -- President of the United States '08) to talk about the MOMocrats and the issues we're talking about in our little corner of the blogosphere!

MOMocrats in the News

MOMocrats Sheila and Stefania were prominently featured in the KPIX San Francisco Bay Area CBS affiliate's 6 pm news broadcast on March 5, 2008.  You can view the video here.  They did a great job representing the MOMocrats!

A few corrections to the report:

• MOMocrats.com is not officially endorsing either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.  Each individual contributor is expressing her own views on who the Democratic nominee should be, and there is no consensus. 
• The original MOMocrats supported John Edwards, but not all of the current contributors were Edwards supporters.
• Although the blog was founded by two moms from Palo Alto and one mom from Menlo Park, California, our contributors are from all over the United States.  We welcome contributions and comments from all over the country and the world.

Hillary, Don't Whine!

Things were much the same in Democratic debate number 20 last night.  Neither Hillary nor Barack could keep their inner wonks from coming out.

But I couldn't believe when Hillary started whining about always getting called on first to answer questions!

If you're really upset about that one, have your advance people meet with the moderators.  But for heaven's sake, Hillary, what were you thinking?? 

You want to be leader of the free world.  You want to turn this country around.  You say you're tough enough to deal with Putin and Ahmadenijad, but you're getting all girly about being picked on and having to answer debate questions first?  I don't know who suggested you bring that up, but they should be off your staff ASAP.

You're the queen of being picked on, Hillary.  You've taken it from the GOP ever since Bill was elected to the White House!  What exactly did you think you were going to gain by playing the 'don't pick on me' card?  You had to know that one would flop.

I'm with you on the argument that you have been getting the shaft from the media in this campaign -- I don't believe Newsweek would have written an article asking Obama to gracefully withdraw from the race of the polling and primary results were in your favor --
but if you want to be President of the United States, you're going to get picked on A LOT!

Whining about the boys not playing fair, even if they're not, ain't going to help anything.

LIVEBLOGGING: Debate at Cleveland State

6:00 PM:  First of all, I can't believe they are debating again.  To be honest, I haven't watched any of them since Edwards dropped out, but it seems like they've been debating every other day. 

Recap of Hillary flip-flopping on Barack love.  She loves him, she loves him not.  She's upset about flyers.  Says she's just standing up for herself.  He has consistently said they will force people to have healthcare whether they can afford it or not.  Met many families who don't have healthcare.  Says her plan will be affordable and cover everyone.  Does not use the "m" word (mandate).

Brian asks about photo of Obama in Somali garb.  Shows the photo.  Wonderful, MSNBC. Clinton says as far as she knows it did not come from her campaign.  She would  fire whoever did it if she found out who did it.

Obama says he takes her at her word. Wants to talk about healthcare.  97% of the plans are alike.  She wants a mandate, meaning forcing people to purchase whether they want it or not. Hardship exclusions for people who can't afford it, so Hillary's not covering everyone either. Says Clinton campaign has repeatedly sent out negative ads, robocalls, etc.

Clinton says the Obama ads question whether universal can be achieved.  Will allow cherrypicking by insurance companies.Looks like Republicans/insurance companies wrote it (OUCH!).

Obama's reponse is like "nu'uh" only using many more words.  He lost me.

Clinton: Mandate is present in Obama plan for parents to cover children.  She is kicking his ass on this, I hate to say.

Obama says essentially that there is an infrastructure in place for mandating children's healthcare, and that experts say there is no difference between the plans.  He believes if it is cheap enough, people will buy it.

Clinton is fired up, and gives good examples.

Hillary 1, Barack 0

Political Death By Middle Name?

I mentioned in comments yesterday on Stefania's thought-provoking post (and ensuing discussion) about Obama's Somali photo that if that was an attack on Obama, well, we ain't seen nothing yet.

Case in point, Ohio hate-show...er, talk-show host Bill Cunningham's recent anti-Obama rant at a McCain rally. If his rhetoric is any indication, then the new GOP tactic to defame and destroy using any means necessary is the consistent repetition of the Democratic candidate's middle name:

Barack Hussein Obama.

Low. Low.

MOMocrats WTF of the Day: Chris Matthews Said What?

On last night's Hardball with Chris Matthews, in a discussion about who John McCain should select as a vice-presidential running mate, Chris Matthews suggested the following, and I paraphrase:

McCain should choose Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas because she will appeal to all the suburban women voters.

To borrow from Hannah Montana, pundit man, say WHAT??

You know us "suburban women" -- just put a female on the ballot and we're bound to follow, no matter what the issues are!  Why didn't Hillary Clinton think of that??
